Overview
Managed for public hunting, the Lowndes Wildlife Management Area additions in Lowndes County consist of two acquisitions featuring upland and bottomland hardwoods, pine plantations and open fields on 1,967 acres of gently rolling alluvial land within Alabama’s famed Black Belt.

Hunting
Hunters must possess a valid hunting license, a WMA license and a free map/permit. Permits and other WMA information may be downloaded from the Wildlife Management Areas webpage.

Directions
From Montgomery, take I-65 south to exit 167 (US 80). Take US 80 West approximately 22 miles to a gravel road on the right (If you cross Big Swamp Creek, you have gone about a mile too far). Turn right onto the gravel road and enter the Lowndes WMA. The parking lot will be ahead on your right.
