Plant Identification and Map Reading-Shoal Creek

The League of Outdoor Women is hosting a hike/workshop for women at Shoal Creek Nature Preserve. Event will be led by Summer McCreless, owner of Mothering Herbs. Learn how to identify plants (both good and bad) and how to read maps.

Shoal Creek Preserve is one of the easiest hiking areas to access from Florence. The preserve is protected by the Forever Wild Land Trust and includes almost 300 acres. There are two trails totaling 4.3 miles.

Meet at Shoals Creek Preserve a little bit before 10 am. We will complete the workshop at 12 pm. Pack a lunch and enjoy a picnic after the hike.

From Florence, turn north onto Lauderdale Co. Rd. 47 towards St. Florian. In St. Florian, turn left onto Co. Rd. 61/Butler Creek Road. The tract is located roughly 2 miles down the road on the right.
