Overview
Forever Wild has acquired five additions abutting Monte Sano State Park in Madison County. These approximately 533.6 acres of mountainous upland hardwood forest land line the northern and eastern edges of Huntsville.

Several of these parcels adjoin land owned by the City of Huntsville and the Land Trust of Huntsville and North Alabama, which have been partners in these acquisitions. The tracts also provide the land for the Mountain Mist Trail, which winds its way around Monte Sano Mountain, while safeguarding two federally-listed plant species.

The Periwinkle Spring Addition consists of 40 acres that has one of the only permanent springs in that portion of the mountain.

Visitors to the Monte Sano State Park additions can enjoy outdoor pastimes including hiking, biking and wildlife observation. Admission may be charged to enter Monte Sano State Park.
