Together the Pine Barren Creek, Rum Creek, and the Portland Landing-Gilmore Addition create 2,473 acres of public hunting opportunity in the black belt prairie area of the State as part of the Portland Landing Special Opportunity Area. Located along the Alabama River in Dallas County the properties are comprised of hardwood bottomland floodplain forest.
The Portland Landing Special Opportunity Area is open to public hunting through the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Special Opportunity Program.
